No Ospreys Allowed

Lake Wilhelm is a beautiful lake loaded with ducks, Bald Eagles and Ospreys.  This body of water lies within Maurice Godard State Park in North Western Pa.  This area is a real hotbed of Osprey activity and the officials have provided several nesting boxes for them.  While we did observe many of the nesting boxes being utilized by the Ospreys, there were some of these raptors that didn't want to comply and would build their nests on the cross beams at the top of power poles.  It also appeared that the utility people were none to happy about this and we noticed one particular pole that was apparently a pretty popular nesting spot and the utility folks took matters into their own hands to discourage this.  I thought it was appropriate to include this photo in my Whoda' Thunk Blog.  After all, Whoda' Thunk they would put safety cones high up on a power pole in addition to a plastic goose to ward off nesting Ospreys.
